When we started Masterworks Images, my vision was to offer painted portraits to my clients. When I received a call from Joanne to do a glamour session with her so she could give a collection of images to her husband for their 25th wedding anniversary, I knew I would have my first painted portrait. I had envisioned a portrait along the style of Ingres’ La Grande Odalisque, and I think I succeeded beyond my imaginings.
See if you agree?
Thank you Joanne for trusting me to take you out of your comfort zone so that you could give Glenn an unforgettable anniversary gift. You are an incredible woman and Glenn is a lucky man. May you have many more years of happiness together!
Thursday afternoon the Zihruls, Pam, Randy, Jim, and significant other Eleni, plus Rob came to look at their family photos which we had taken the week previously at the Experimental Farm in Brandon. What a great family! Here are some of their favourite images.
From L to R: Rob, Randy, Pam, Eleni and Jim.
Just chillin’ on the lawn in from of the Research Station
I love photographing in front of these windows. Check out the reflection of Mom and Dad behind the boys.
I think Pam looks too young to be the mother of a 21 and a 19 year old boy. Keep young Pam!
Thank you for the privilege of photographing your family. I hope you will love your images for many years to come.
A couple of nights ago a thunderstorm passed through Brandon – much rolling thunder, howling winds, though very little rain. After it blew through I chanced a look toward the West and saw the most incredible sunset that I have seen in years. I think the last time I saw something even similar was over 25 years ago at my parent’s home in Winnipeg. It was also after a storm. I ran into the studio and grabbed my camera as shot off about 18 frames before the sun actually set, and the following are my two favourites.
The view is from outside our fence towards Vincent Massey High school
The patio is bathed in surreal light. It was so dark at 8:40 PM and the minilights came on automatically. I’m glad I took photographs to remember this evening.
It’s been so long since I have posted on the blog that I totally forgot how to go about it. Isn’t this embarrassing? We’ve been off to Yorkton to photograph the Shamrock Kennel Club Dog shows over the past weekend, and since our return home, I’ve done nothing but production. All the photos finally got mailed out today. Here are a few images from the show.
Denise and her poodles, plus one Min Pin.
Can/Am Ch. Paragon’s Get the Led Out, Cairn Terrier winning Reserve Best in Show
We met Jaime for the first time at Yorkton. She is a professional handler, and one of the most pleasant clients we have had the privilege of photographing. Although she is a perfectionist, she is wonderful to work with. We hope to see you at other shows, and thanks for a great weekend!
Brittany Spaniel - Best Puppy in Group
Can/Am.Ch. Artizoe Billboard Chart Stopper, English Setter, winning Best in Show on Saturday.
Roberta Hozempa was showing two fabulous Ibizan Hounds, one of which is MBIS, BISS Can/Am Ch Amahte’s Gold Fever shown above winning a Group 1st.
It was a great weekend at the friendliest show on the prairies. Thank you to all the Shamrock KC Show Committee for asking us to be their show photograpehr again and thanks to all the exhibitors who liked our images.
This is my first post to my new blog. I’m sort of out of my comfort zone on this one, because I tend to get overwhelmed with ‘formats’ and posts, so please bear with me.
I want to share some macro images from this past weekend in the garden. I’ve just purchased a brand new 50 mm f/2.8 Sigma macro lens and wanted to give it a try, and these are a few of my favourites. Enjoy!
This is actually a monkshood, but when converted to infrared, it becomes totally different.
When an ordinary petunia is taken into Lightroom, out comes a Monster!
Ladybug, ladybug, fly away...
I caught this little ladybug exercising it’s wings on top of a leaf. She waited around long enough for me to capture several shots of her.
White on White
This is my most favourite image of the whole shoot!
I love the uncomplicated design of my patio table.
